localground’s Competition entry for the Council of Architecture’s Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru envisioned the Centre aimed to create a precinct that sensitively responded to the immediate context while enhancing the strong sense of place that existed.
In March 2022, the Council of Architecture, India announced a two-stage competition for its Centre of Excellence, Bangalore. m|a architects was one of the five teams that eventually made it to the final shortlist.

CnT Architects designs Experience Center for Baashyaam at Chennai

Architect Bijoy Ramachandran speaks to Prof. Rabindra Vasavada, a celebrated practitioner, conservationist, teacher and historian about his time at the IIM Ahmedabad site office (where he started his career) from 1969 to 1972 working with Louis Kahn the American architect, who was commissioned to design the campus, and Prof. Anant Raje, the local architect in-charge. The time working with Lousi Kahn on the School (the Library, Faculty blocks, Classrooms and the Dorms) had a profound impact on Prof. Vasavada.
The office space for Mr. Abhilash is built over a land measuring 2400 sqft in a densely built residential area in Bangalore. The client a young developer, in his brief to ‘IN-GRID’ wanted a small yet iconic office building. He also expressed his love for materials to be seen in their natural self. The project presented us an opportunity to apply and test some new ideas in space, technique and material. Brick, concrete and wood in its exposed state forms the core components of the design.
The idea for this mixed-use project located in Bangalore, was context based and inspired by the architects need for an office space while retaining the residential flavor of the layout. This ground-up 4-story mixed-use building contains the architect’s office and apartments.

Redwall Design Studio revives the Bridge Co-working space by playing with one’s emotional response to an office atmosphere via external stimuli. Envisioning the Bridge Co-working space as a mood catalyst, apt for a workplace, the designer forges the interior space with refreshing elements and colors.
Nestled in the backdrop of a metropolis, the Floating Walls Residence, by Crest Architects, promises an escape from the city life. The plot for this house sits in a densely populated locality. The major concern was finding an intimate space in the crowd and arriving at a visually engaging structure amidst the chaotic background. The client’s brief called for a simple and spacious Vaastu compliant house for a family of five.

Metro Station in bamboo at Bengaluru for BMRCL by Mansaram Architects, Neelam Manjunath – Bamboo is introduced in the design to showcase its potential how a traditional fragile-looking material can be used to an in large infrastructure projects. Bamboo was introduced in response to huge amount of steel used in large infrastructure projects which lead to immense carbon emission eventually leading to global warming. In the project, Bamboo is taken to a new level in the design by incorporating it in various forms. ”Bamboo is the new steel”.
Designed by Design Boulevard, the site for ‘The Hues of Copper House’ is located in Ramamurthy Nagar, a suburban area that is on its way to rapid development in the north-eastern part of Bengaluru.
